2019: NCWS hails ex-Benue tax boss, Adzape-Orubibi’s victory

Ahead of 2019 general elections, the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), has hailed Mimi Adzape-Orubibi, contesting for Benue North Senatorial District (Zone A), for emerging winner of All Progressive Congress (APC) primary in Zone A, Makurdi, Benue State.

President National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Gloria Laraba Shoda expressed gratitude to Benue people, especially delegates for identifying with Adzape-Orubibi achievements and congratulated her.

“Adzape -Orubibi is a selfless woman; a daunted servant of the people and a perfect example of a vibrant leader.

She is among the women we supported and we are delighted she emerged winner,” she said.

In the same vein, President NCWS Benue State, Mrs. Grace Okochi, also congratulated Adzape-Orubibi on her victory and was optimistic Adzape-Orubibi will win.

According to Okochi, “She built boreholes in all the wards in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue.

“She also built a Council for Chiefs and provided trailer loads of fertilizer for farmers at the grassroots among other philanthropic contributions.

“We campaigned and still campaigning for our daughter who has proven her capability to represent us at the senate, and we are convinced that she will be elected,” she emphasised.

Elated Immediate Past Tax Boss promised she would explore areas of comparative advantage of the various power blocks from the zone to bring out their potentials for enhanced development, wealth and job creation.

She further stressed that, “time has come for men and women alike to support the womenfolk for higher political office, urged the women to take her acceptance to serve Zone A at the level of Senate as their own election and appreciated her people for their support.

Russian jets make first foray into south-west Syria.

The US has warned Syrian rebels in the south-west of the country they should not expect military support to help them resist a major government offensive. The message from Washington comes as Russian jets struck an opposition-held town on Sunday in the first air cover provided by Moscow to an expanding Syrian army offensive in the strategic area bordering Jordan and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
