Igbo politicians calling for restructuring are cowardice.: MASSOB-BIM

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra- Biafra Independence Movement (MASSOB-BIM) says it is not in support of the call for restructuring of the country as being put forward by politicians from the South East geopolitical zone, describing the call as an act of cowardice.

According to a statement endorsed by Anselam Ogbonna, zonal Information Director, Abia Central zone of the group, these set of politicians forget to seek the minds of people who they represent before making such utterances.

The statement which was made available to newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, reads in part: “Are they calling for restructuring while the people they are owing salaries are aggrieved over their nonchalant attitude towards the electorate who, given the opportunity, will stone them to death.

Instead of them to have the pertinent feeling on how to address the problems of the masses, rather they are busy clamouring for restructuring because of their selfish interests”.

The group had insisted that these people do not really know what they want, stating that such people are on their own, even as it recalled that it was the same call made by the late Biafra leader, Chief Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, in 1966 which the then Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, refused to heed to at that time.

The group was not happy that even with Boko Haram sect fighting for 19 states out of the 36 states of the country; OPC and Afenifere in the West agitating for Oduduwa republic; Niger Delta militants from South-South calling for resource control and MASSOB -BIM in the South East calling for Biafra, the politicians are busy campaigning for restructuring of the country.

They alleged that the same politicians had earlier attempted to hijack the Biafra struggle without success, hence the turn around to back the restructuring agitation.
The group therefore asked them to stop deceiving themselves and others.

They should stop suffering people since they don’t have any good agenda for the masses. What we are talking about is a total Biafra freedom from Nigeria and there is no going back on it.

They should go and restructure their bedrooms and stop deceiving the people”, the group further warned.
